hello! my name is joey. i’m a queer and non-binary multidisciplinary artist and performer based in nyc. my pronouns are they/them. i create work exploring sexuality, pop culture, the religious right, sports, cults, gender, and being an outsider.

my solo show mom baby god has toured nationally, was critics pick/best of 2018 at the washington post, and was the subject of a right-wing smear campaign! you can watch a trailer for the show below.

i play drums and soccer. 90s pop music is my obsession. you can hear/read about recent music project ultra beauty (sister polygon records) here.

as an actor i have performed nationally and am passionate about new work and play development. recent acting credits include aziza barnes’ blks at woolly mammoth theatre company, directed by nataki garrett. i originated roles in the world premieres of lindsay joelle’s trayf (theater j) and tearrance arvelle chisholm’s hooded, or being black for dummies (mosaic theater company), have workshopped new plays extensively at the kennedy center and am a proud member of actors equity association. you can check out more clips from my recent film work here.
